EBISU -- Brosse à dents Premium 8 rangées régulière
Most toothbrushes sold in Canada have three or four rows of bristles. This Japanese toothbrush has eight. The reasoning behind the Premium Care line is straightforward: more bristles in contact with the tooth surface at once means less brushing time needed to cover the same ground, and less temptation to compensate by pressing harder.
Ebisu pairs that with two bristle types in a single head. The outer rows are softer and sit against the gum line, while the inner rows are firmer and work the tooth surface itself. The tips are also mixed, with ultra-fine tapered bristles at 0.01mm alongside flat-cut ones. The tapered tips are the ones designed to get into the narrow space between tooth and gum where a blunt bristle simply cannot fit.
The head is slimmer front to back than the bristle count suggests, which is the compromise that makes a wide-head soft toothbrush usable at all. Without it, an eight-row head would be unmanageable at the back molars. It is a Japanese domestic product, so the packaging is in Japanese, and the handle colour is usually not selectable.

1. Wet the brush and apply a pea-sized amount of toothpaste.
2. Angle the bristles toward the gum line and brush in short strokes, twice a day.
3. Use light pressure. The wide head is designed so that pressing hard is unnecessary, and pressing hard is what damages gums.
4. Work through the outer surfaces, inner surfaces and chewing surfaces, finishing at the back molars.
5. Rinse the brush thoroughly and store it upright to air dry.
6. Replace the brush when the bristles start to splay outward, or roughly every three months.
● Handle: polypropylene
● Grip: thermoplastic elastomer
● Bristles: saturated polyester resin
Ebisu is a Japanese oral care manufacturer that has built its reputation on brush engineering rather than marketing, and the Premium Care range is where that shows most clearly. The line was designed around a single question: why are toothbrush heads narrow when the surface being cleaned is wide? The answer Ebisu arrived at was a head with roughly twice the bristle holes of a conventional brush, thinned front to back so it stays manoeuvrable, with bristles of two firmnesses and two tip shapes in the same head. The range runs from six to eight rows in compact and regular head sizes, across several bristle grades. Ebisu products are available in Canada through C&C Cosmetics.

A: Bristle count. A standard brush has three to five rows; this has eight across a wider head. More bristles touch the tooth surface at once, so you cover more ground per stroke.
A: The head is slimmer front to back than the width suggests, which is the design compromise that keeps back molars reachable. Most people adapt within a few days.
A: Head size, not bristle firmness. Regular is the standard adult head width; Ebisu also makes a compact version. Firmness is a separate specification, and the head itself already combines softer outer bristles with firmer inner ones.
A: Regular suits most adults. Ebisu also makes a compact version of the Premium Care head for smaller mouths or anyone who finds a wide head awkward.
A: Roughly every three months, or sooner if the bristles start to splay. A splayed brush cleans poorly regardless of how good it was when new.
