OVERVIEW

Physical scrubs can feel like too much, and strong acids can feel like too much in the other direction. A peeling gel sits between them. The ANUA Heartleaf LHA Moisture Peeling Gel is a 120ml wash-off gel that rolls across the skin as you massage, then rinses away.

The rolling comes from cellulose, and the mild surface step comes from capryloyl salicylic acid, an LHA that works more slowly than a standard salicylic acid. Around them sit heartleaf extract at 10,000ppm, the brand's signature ingredient, plus the BioDtox blend of aloe ferox leaf extract, broccoli extract and bioflavonoids, with allantoin and sodium hyaluronate keeping the finish comfortable. There is no fragrance in the formula.

It works for normal, oily and combination skin when used once or twice a week. If your skin is very reactive or you already use an acid toner or retinoid, space this out rather than stacking it.

Got questions? We’ve got answers!

Q1: Wet hands or dry hands?

A: ANUA's own directions say a wet hand for dry and sensitive-feeling skin and a dry hand for oily and combination skin. Dry hands give a more noticeable roll.

Q2: How often should I use it?

A: Once or twice a week is enough for most people. Start with once and build up.

Q3: What is LHA and how is it different from salicylic acid?

A: LHA, or capryloyl salicylic acid, is a slower-acting relative of salicylic acid. Anyone comparing an LHA peeling gel with a standard BHA product is usually choosing the gentler option.

Q4: Is there more than one version?

A: Yes. ANUA released a renewed version of this peeling gel.

Q5: Do I need sunscreen with it?

A: Yes. Any routine with an exfoliating acid should be paired with daily sunscreen.
