1.     Wet the bar and your skin with warm water.

2.     Work the soap into a lather in your hands, on a washcloth or on a lathering net.

3.     Apply the lather to the skin rather than rubbing the bar directly.

4.     Wash and rinse thoroughly with warm water.

5.     Pat the skin dry.

6.     Store the bar on a draining dish so it dries between uses.

7.     Follow with a body moisturiser if your skin runs dry.

Cow Brand, or Gyunyu Sekken Kyoshinsha, has been making soap in Japan since 1909, and its cow logo is one of the most recognisable in Japanese households. The Red Box launched in 1928 and the Blue Box in 1949, and both are still made to essentially the same formula. Alongside the bar soaps, the company produces liquid body washes, facial cleansers and an additive-free line for sensitive skin.
