Description

The DR. ALTHEA Aqua Marine Watery Cream is a 50ml gel cream in a tube. Bamboo water is listed first on the ingredient list, and the formula includes twelve forms of hyaluronic acid, polyglutamic acid, panthenol, four algae extracts and guaiazulene, which gives the cream its pale blue colour. The texture is watery and light rather than rich, and it is used as the last step of a routine.

OVERVIEW

Some days your skin is dehydrated but the last thing it wants is a heavy cream. That gap is what this one fills. DR. ALTHEA made the Aqua Marine Watery Cream as a 50ml gel cream built on bamboo water rather than plain water, and it behaves more like a watery gel than a traditional moisturizer.

The formula runs to 44 ingredients and the interesting part is the hyaluronic acid: twelve different forms, including versions bonded to vitamin C and retinol derivatives, plus polyglutamic acid and panthenol. Four algae extracts, including sea grapes and Irish moss, give the marine side of the name. The pale blue colour comes from guaiazulene, a chamomile-derived ingredient, not from a dye. There is no fragrance in the ingredient list.

It works well for dehydrated, oily and combination skin, and for anyone who wants a light final step under sunscreen. If your skin is very dry in winter, you may want something richer at night.

Got questions? We’ve got answers!

Q1: Is this a gel cream or a proper cream?

A: It behaves like a gel cream. The texture is watery and light, and it disappears within a few seconds rather than sitting on the surface.

Q2: Why is it blue?

A: The colour comes from guaiazulene, a chamomile-derived ingredient, rather than from an added colourant.

Q3: Will it be enough for dry skin?

A: For dehydrated skin, yes. If your skin is genuinely dry in winter, you may prefer something richer at night and this during the day.

Q4: Does it have a scent?

A: There is no fragrance in the ingredient list.

Q5: Can I wear it under makeup?

A: Yes. It absorbs quickly enough that sunscreen and base makeup go straight over the top.
