Overview

A stainless steel bottle is almost impossible to clean properly by hand. The neck is narrow, the base is out of reach, and a brush cannot get into the shoulder where staining collects. That is the specific problem this bottle cleaner exists for.

You drop one tablet into a bottle of water and leave it. The tablet fizzes, and the oxygen-based cleaning action lifts tea and coffee staining off the interior surface without scrubbing, along with the stale smell that builds up in a bottle used daily. Rinse and it is done.

The formula is designed for stainless steel interiors specifically, which matters: chlorine bleach can pit and corrode stainless, so a bottle needs an oxygen-based cleaner rather than a chlorine-based one. As a water bottle cleaner it works on flasks, tumblers and travel mugs as well. Kobayashi is one of Japan’s most recognized household product companies, and this is the kind of small, single-purpose fix the company is known for.

Got questions? We’ve got answers!

Q1: Why not just use bleach?

Chlorine bleach can pit and corrode stainless steel. An oxygen-based cleaner does the job without that risk, which is why bottle cleaners are formulated this way.

Q2: Do I need to scrub afterwards?

No. The effervescent action does the work. Rinse thoroughly with clean water once it is finished.

Q3: How long do I leave it?

Follow the timing on the pack. Around 30 minutes handles light staining, and longer suits heavier build-up.

Q4: Can I seal the lid while it works?

No. The reaction releases gas, so leave the bottle open or rest the lid on loosely.

Q5: Will it get rid of the smell?

That is one of the main reasons people use it. It lifts the residue causing the stale smell rather than masking it.
