Toners have quietly become the step where a lot of the work happens, and this one leans into that. The Numbuzin No.3 Super Glowing Essence Toner is a 200ml essence-textured toner built on 50 fermented ingredients, thick enough that it behaves more like an essence than a watery toner.

The ferment list is the point. Rice ferment, chlorella ferment, bifida ferment and a long run of Saccharomyces and Lactobacillus ferments make up most of the formula, with niacinamide and meadowsweet extract both included in the formula. The yellow tone in the bottle comes from the fermented ingredients themselves rather than an added colourant. The texture has some viscosity to it but settles without a tacky feel. The brand states that skin irritation and hypoallergenic tests have been completed.

It suits dull-looking, dry and normal skin. If you prefer a light, watery toner that disappears instantly, this thicker texture may be more than you want.

1.     Cleanse your face and pat it dry.

2.     Dispense a moderate amount of the super glowing essence toner onto a cotton pad or into clean hands.

3.     Wipe gently from the centre of the face outwards, or pat it in with your palms.

4.     Layer a second application if your skin wants more.

5.     Follow with your serum and moisturizer.

6.     Use morning and night. Apply sunscreen every morning.
