Tsubaki oil is the Japanese beauty ingredient with the longest history, cold-pressed from the seeds of the Camellia japonica flower, and this is the shampoo built around it. The Shiseido Tsubaki shampoo in the Premium Moist format is a 450ml bottle aimed at dry and damaged hair.

The ingredient list is where the line earns its name. Camellia seed oil sits in the upper half, with squalane, royal jelly extract and soybean seed extract behind it, and dimethiconol handling the smoothing. Tocopherol appears as an antioxidant, and salicylic acid appears low on the list. The cleansing base is sodium laureth sulfate with cocamidopropyl betaine, so the lather is generous, unlike the softer foam of a sulfate-free formula. 1.     Wet your hair and scalp thoroughly with lukewarm water.

2.     Dispense one to two pumps into your palm.

3.     Massage it into the scalp with your fingertips for around a minute, rather than using your nails.

4.     Work the lather down through the lengths.

5.     Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water until the water runs clear.

6.     Follow with the matching Premium Moist conditioner.
