Toner pads are usually thin and barely damp. These are the opposite. The SKINFOOD Carrot Toner Pad is known for being unusually thick and saturated, closer to a small sheet mask than a wipe, and this set pairs the 60-pad jar with a 30-pad refill.

Carrot root extract sits second on the ingredient list, immediately after water, and SKINFOOD steams the carrots to draw out the beta-carotene. Around it sit glycerin, beta-glucan, sodium hyaluronate, allantoin, and Undaria pinnatifida, a seaweed extract. Carrot seed oil and olive fruit oil come lower down, along with patchouli, lavender, sage, mugwort and orange peel oils, which give the pads their herbal scent. The pad itself is pure cotton with a waffle texture designed to reduce friction as it glides.

This suits dry, sensitive-feeling, and normal skin. Because the pads are so saturated, some people split each one into two thinner discs to make them go further. Note that the formula contains several aromatic plant oils.

1.     Cleanse your face and pat it dry.

2.     Take one pad from the jar, using the enclosed spatula if one is supplied.

3.     Place the pad on the cheeks or wherever your skin needs soothing.

4.     Leave it in place for 5 to 10 minutes.

5.     Remove the pad and gently wipe the rest of the face, avoiding the eye area.

6.     Pat lightly to help the essence absorb, and close the lid tightly so the remaining pads do not dry out.
