Spikenard is an unusual thing to build a hair line around. It grows in the Himalayas and can only be harvested between October and December, which is part of why Bouquet Garni makes so much of it. This 500ml korean hair treatment carries the extract at 91.95ppm alongside a substantial protein and oil set.

The protein side is the real story. Six hydrolyzed proteins appear on the list, covering collagen, wheat, keratin, silk, corn and soy, and the brand's argument is that hydrolyzed proteins have small enough particles to work into the hair rather than sitting on top. Eleven amino acids follow, then five plant oils: jojoba, sunflower, macadamia, olive and argan. Amodimethicone handles the smoothing, and candelilla wax gives the treatment its body.

1.     Shampoo your hair and rinse thoroughly.

2.     Squeeze out the excess water so your hair is damp rather than dripping.

3.     Apply a generous amount through the mid-lengths and ends.

4.     Massage gently, focusing on the ends where damage shows first.

5.     Leave it in place for 3 to 5 minutes.

6.     Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water until it runs clear.
