The jayjun green tea eye gel patch is one of the most recognisable eye patches in K-beauty, partly because you can see the green tea leaf powder suspended in the hydrogel. It is a small detail, but it tells you what the formula is built around.

These are hydrogel rather than fabric patches, which matters in use. Hydrogel holds a lot of essence, sits heavier on the skin, and stays where you put it instead of drying out and sliding off. Twenty to thirty minutes is the usual wear, and the patches feel cooling from the moment they go on.

The essence itself is more crowded than most. Niacinamide sits high on the list alongside sodium hyaluronate, allantoin and adenosine, with a long tail of botanical extracts including peony root, licorice root, mulberry bark, sesame and angelica. 1.     Cleanse and apply toner first.

2.     Use the spatula to lift a pair of patches from the jar. Let the excess essence drip off for a second so they do not slide.

3.     Place one patch under each eye, curved side following the eye socket.

4.     Leave on for 20 to 30 minutes.

5.     Remove the patches and pat the remaining essence into the skin.

6.     Follow with your eye cream or moisturiser. Close the jar tightly after each use
