The cooling sheet is a Japanese household staple, and the reason is simple: it stays cold for hours without a fridge, an ice pack or anything to hold in place. The gel is mostly water, with cooling particles worked through it that absorb heat from the skin, and the adhesive holds the sheet where you put it even if you turn over in bed.
One sheet gives around eight hours of cooling gel sensation, which is what makes it useful overnight or through a hot afternoon. It is weakly acidic and formulated to sit against skin comfortably, and it peels off cleanly when you are done.
The 16-sheet box comes as eight sealed pairs, so the ones you have not opened stay moist. The cooling patch is a physical comfort product: it cools the skin surface where you place it. Adults use it on the forehead, the back of the neck and the arms; the sheet can also be cut down with scissors to fit a smaller area.
